As a passionate supporter of this incredible park, you know firsthand the impact Yellowstone has on all who experience it. I am reaching out today to share how Yellowstone Forever is supporting the park during the federal government shutdown.

Yellowstone National Park remains open and accessible to the public. With financial support from Yellowstone Forever, the Mammoth Hot Springs, Canyon, and Old Faithful Visitor Centers have been able to remain open. This successful partnership ensures visitor assistance remains available, Yellowstone Forever Park Stores in these locations are open, and restroom facilities are accessible.

As the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone Forever supports the park by directly funding programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the visitor experience.

How you can help support Yellowstone at this time:

  • Make a Donation: Yellowstone Forever will continue to support the park while federal resources are paused, and we rely on your help to make this possible.
  • Take an Institute Class: Browse our current catalog and register for programs here.
  • Shop our Park Store: Visit Yellowstone.org—proceeds directly support the park.
  • Visit Responsibly: Be a good steward by following the seven Leave No Trace Principles and remember to pack out what you bring in, stay on marked trails and boardwalks, and respect wildlife and cultural sites.

As we receive additional guidance, we will continue to update you on our website and through our email newsletters.

With gratitude,

Lisa Diekmann
President & CEO

Co-founded by a former educator and New York Times best-selling children’s author, Susan Verde, and apparel industry veteran Robyn Stotter, Yellowstone Forever’s new corporate partner Enlightened Generation brings together clothing, beautifully bound books, and an opportunity for families to learn and connect. In the Natural Wonders Collection, Yellowstone National Park’s Grand Prismatic Spring is featured. The book explores what makes the spring so hot, how its brilliant rings of color are formed, and the surprising role bacteria play in shaping its rainbow-colored hues. We thank Enlightened Generation for donating five percent of each sale to Yellowstone Forever.

The 4th collectible release in Wyoming Whiskey’s annual series honoring wide open spaces

KIRBY, Wyo. (Sept. 9, 2024) –– Wyoming’s first legal distillery, Wyoming Whiskey, is proud to announce the launch of National Parks No.4 and Old Faithful Straight Bourbon Whiskies.

The Wyoming Whiskey National Parks No.4 Straight Bourbon Whiskey – Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park bottle is the fourth collectible limited-edition release in the brand’s annual National Park Series. A blend of over 70 carefully chosen barrels pulled from various areas of the Wyoming Whiskey warehouse, the whiskey is aged for a minimum of five years and showcases flavors of vanilla, candied ginger, crème caramel and a honeysuckle finish. The straight bourbon whiskey celebrates Yellowstone National Park, a place of natural wonder boasting half of the world’s known hydrothermal features, including Mammoth Hot Springs. This ever-changing system of travertine terraces has been formed over thousands of years, and Wyoming Whiskey’s National Parks No.4 release is a tribute to the park’s unique and evolving landscape.

Old Faithful is a limited-edition whiskey that honors Yellowstone National Park, the iconic Old Faithful geyser, and the legendary F. Jay Haynes with the latest installment in Wyoming Whiskey’s wide open spaces series. The whiskey is a blend of three specifically selected standout barrels, and has been thoughtfully aged for 10 years, resulting in a depth of flavor showcasing notes of baking spices, orange peel, toffee and black forest cake with crushed almonds. As one of the most unique natural environments on earth known for its extraordinary geothermal features, Yellowstone is home to the world’s most famous geyser, Old Faithful. Honoring the incredible natural wonder, the limited-edition Old Faithful bourbon features a label showcasing an image by F. Jay Haynes, who spent his life capturing the awe-inspiring sights of Yellowstone to share with the world.

Wyoming Whiskey is proud to support Yellowstone Forever, the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. In conjunction with the release of National Parks No.4 and Old Faithful, Wyoming Whiskey has donated $150,000 to Yellowstone Forever in support of the nonprofit’s efforts to protect, preserve and enhance the world’s first national park.

Wyoming Whiskey co-founder David DeFazio shares, “National Parks No.4 has been crafted from barrels specifically selected to continue the distinctive flavor profile of our National Parks Series, celebrating the adventurous spirit of these treasured, wide-open spaces. Old Faithful is a truly special whiskey, made from a select few of our 10-year-old wheated bourbon barrels, making it the oldest wheated bourbon from our warehouses. I’m excited to share these new releases with our loyal Wyoming Whiskey fans and supporters of Yellowstone National Park.”

With a keen eye toward sustainability, and tremendous support from strategic partners, Yellowstone Forever is committed to assist Yellowstone National Park in long-overdue renovations of employee housing in the park.

A combination of the effects of time and harsh weather conditions, houses throughout the park no longer meet modern standards for safety, comfort, and efficiency. This low-quality housing has limited the park’s ability to attract and retain its vital workforce.

In response, Yellowstone has initiated an extensive plan to upgrade its housing. In addition, the park doubled down its commitment to conservation by using sustainable materials and practices in its renovations. These efforts will meet the needs of park staff and greatly increase the lifespan of the buildings.

The current phase of this initiative includes the renovation of approximately 50 homes in Lower Mammoth, just north of the park’s headquarters. With generous in-kind support of materials and industry expertise from partners, the renovation of one home was chosen to serve as a model for the remainder of homes in the community.

Transformation of the exterior of the model Lower Mammoth house.

Earlier in the month, this model, modern, and sustainable house became a home to a family of seven.

A Yellowstone-sized thank you to our incredible partners who found practical and innovative building solutions to serve as a standard for renovating other area homes. From the roof to the windows to water fixtures, every aspect of the house was designed with careful consideration for comfort, efficiency, cost, and conservation.

A true public-private partnership, Yellowstone Forever aligned philanthropic corporations, funding in-kind and in-cash, to successfully advance this core park project. Much gratitude to our generous corporate sustainability partners for helping reduce energy consumption and helping protect the environment.

Thank you to ConocoPhillips, Fortune Brands Innovations Inc., Therma-Tru Doors, Moen, Master Lock, Toyota, Andersen Windows & Doors, MasterBrand Cabinets, and Wells Fargo for making this leading and critical effort happen!”

— Yellowstone National Park News Release —

On Monday, May 20, 2024, the Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center opens to the public for the season. Located in the Old Faithful area, the Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center is a space where Indigenous artists, scholars and presenters from the 27 associated Tribes of Yellowstone National Park directly engage with visitors through demonstrations and discussions. Now in its third year, the center is a partnership between the National Park Service and Yellowstone Forever, with Tribal consultation.

During the 2024 season, 27 presenters from 17 associated Tribes will directly engage with Yellowstone visitors through formal and informal education. Presentations will include photography, beadwork, flint knapping, dancing, storytelling, quillwork and more.

“The Tribal Heritage Center offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with and learn from the original stewards of this land, emphasizing the ongoing cultural significance of the area now known as Yellowstone National Park,” said Alyssa McGeeley, Tribal Engagement Manager, and member of the Muscogee Tribe from Oklahoma. “The success of this initiative is a testament to its power and importance. It has not only educated countless visitors but also strengthened the cultural ties and visibility of the Tribes associated with these lands.”

The Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center is open May 20, 2024, through Oct. 11, 2024. The center is centrally located between the Old Faithful Lodge and the Old Faithful Visitor Education Center.

The Yellowstone Tribal Heritage Center is made possible by Yellowstone Forever, the National Park Foundation and generous private donations.

Yellowstone Forever’s partnership with Yellowstone National Park Lodges, the primary authorized concessioner in the park, has spanned now over two decades.

They have a big job to say the least – managing all lodging facilities (9 in total with over 2,000 rooms) in Yellowstone in addition to five park campgrounds. Their services include restaurants, gift shops, in-park activities, and transportation. If you’ve stayed at the historic Old Faithful Inn, Madison Campground, or simply had an ice cream cone at the Old Faithful Lodge, Yellowstone National Park Lodges has been there behind the scenes making it all happen.

In addition to jointly running Lodging and Learning tours with the Yellowstone Forever Institute and offering discounts to Yellowstone Forever members at their retail stores, they’ve implemented an incredibly successful donation program at all locations and campgrounds. In fact, their Guest Donation Program has collected over $1.8 million since the inception of the program in 2003!

During the check-in process, front desk staff ask if overnight guests would like to make a voluntary donation to Yellowstone Forever as a part of their stay. Guests can donate $1, $5, $10, or any amount of their choosing. Through these efforts, and the generosity of Yellowstone visitors, Yellowstone National Park Lodges has made a significant impact in support of our mission to help protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone for future generations. This substantial support has allowed Yellowstone Forever to fund critical park projects like (but not limited to), the renowned Yellowstone Wolf Project (and other wildlife research), the restoration of some of the 1,000+ miles of trails in the park, youth programs like the Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps, and more.

In addition to this monetary support, the Guest Donation Program helps raise awareness about Yellowstone Forever’s mission and how non-profit organizations, corporations, and individuals can come together to make a real difference.

In essence, Yellowstone Forever and Yellowstone National Park Lodges have the same core goals – to provide visitors with unforgettable and transformational park experiences and to help ensure Yellowstone National Park’s ecosystem and remarkable natural wonders remain intact in perpetuity.

We quite literally cannot thank Yellowstone National Park Lodges enough for this ongoing, fruitful partnership and their commitment to the world’s first national park.

Since 2018, Wyoming Whiskey has partnered with Yellowstone Forever to support their local national park. Defined by Wyoming and the West, and distilled in Kirby, WY, the family-owned company has a deep connection to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. As a corporate partner, they have supported projects like sustainability, wildlife and education, helping Yellowstone Forever fulfill its mission.

The Partnership

Wyoming Whiskey is protecting Yellowstone for future generations. Both the wildlife and the landscape draw millions of people to Wyoming. Leaders at Wyoming Whiskey understand it is important for Yellowstone to be equipped with the funds it needs to stay healthy, intact, and beautiful. The partnership has evolved since 2018, from smaller event donations to more impactful programs.

“We feel included in supporting, impacting, and protecting Yellowstone. We have always been inherently connected to the park – but now we are a true park partner.” – David Defazio, Founder, Wyoming Whiskey

How it fits

For Wyoming Whiskey, the partnership fits with the company’s Wide Open Spaces mission to help protect the places that inspire us all. For leadership at Wyoming Whiskey, it is an opportunity to give back to the places that shaped them, the places that inspire them. Many feel personally connected to the park – its mountains and air and water. The mission to preserve and honor the park rises above the day to day, pulling in employee engagement through a powerful story and vision. Employees hike, fish, backpack, and wildlife watch through areas they
protect in their off time.

A Deep Connection

Wyoming Whiskey was born at the base of Grand Teton National Park. Ingredients are sourced in the Big Horn Basin, operating on 97,818 square miles of Wyoming terrain. The water that becomes whiskey runs down from the slopes of Yellowstone National Park. The whiskey has a connection to the land, with the bourbon becoming a reflection of the landscape itself. It felt obvious to this independent, family-owned whiskey maker to become a partner of Yellowstone’s support system. Through their support for the park’s official nonprofit, they are honoring their iconic neighborhood.

“The bourbon becomes a reflection of the landscape and It’s important for us to acknowledge the benefit we get from Yellowstone. It heightens our platform in the region, both as a company and as an advocate.” – David Defazio, Founder, Wyoming Whiskey

Working with Yellowstone Forever

Wyoming Whiskey has many partnerships supporting issues they care about, but they’ve found Yellowstone Forever to be particularly grateful, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Their staff touches base regularly, and is a source of knowledge for Yellowstone news, events, and decisions.

“Yellowstone Forever has such a supportive structure, and is quick to call us back and work with us. Every year, Sam meets with me personally and asks where we want the money to go,” says David DeFazio, co-Founder of Wyoming Whiskey. “Our donation felt appreciated at Yellowstone Forever – we felt honored. Sam calls me just to say thank you at times.”
